The ‘Epping;’ Cooker is constructed throughout of cast iron except for the back insulation retaining plate which is of sheet steel; it can be fitted into an opening and connected to any flue or chimney and can be secured to any type of flooring.
The oven is generous in size and is heated by a simple flue over the top; a ventilator is fitted to the top of the oven door to ensure a proper heat balance; two shelves are provided.
The hotplate is in three pieces and provides a surprising area of fast and slow boiling space.
The firebox is 8”x 8” x 5” deep & lined with high-grade firebricks & a shaking grate. Air for combustion is accurately controlled by a shutter on ash pit door; in addition there is a draught damper in the nozzle.
In order to restrict excessive radiation, the back and sides of the ‘Epping’ cooker are insulated.
Ashpan, cuplifter and raker are supplied.
All types of solid fuel can be used. The ’Epping’ cooker will remain alight for up to ten hours on coal, coke or anthracite. Small fuel sizes are recommended. It will not burn for long periods on wood .
